White House Plan Overview
The
White House plan
recently announced by the Biden administration proposes $2.3 trillion in government spending that would rebuild America's infrastructure, help families by making childcare and education more affordable and combat climate change. The wide-ranging plan would improve roads and bridges, reduce pollution, update drinking water and wastewater systems and expand access to broadband. It would also create and preserve millions of jobs, helping to reduce economic suffering across the nation.
Infrastructure
The proposed
White House plan
would put an unprecedented focus on infrastructure, providing a total of $621 billion to modernize and maintain physical infrastructure ranging from roads and bridges to rail and public transit. It also includes funds to expand digital infrastructure, particularly for broadband accessibility. Additionally, the plan would invest in public lands and create or protect more than five million jobs across a wide variety of fields, including construction, clean energy, manufacturing, and healthcare.
Affordability
The White House plan would make childcare, pre-K and K-12 education more affordable for American families. It provides incentives for states to make tuition-free community college and workforce training programs available, giving millions of people the opportunity to improve their skills and further their careers. Furthermore, the plan seeks to reduce healthcare costs and expand access to healthcare by increasing tax credits and making health insurance more affordable.
Climate Change
The White House plan looks to invest $213 billion for electric vehicles and the necessary infrastructure for their use. It would also create incentives for American businesses to work towards reducing greenhouse emissions and updating their energy systems to renewable sources. Additionally, it would focus on restoring and preserving natural resources, especially in low-income neighborhoods most affected by climate change.
