About Private Room For Rent

Private Room For Rent photo
Looking for a roommate to share a 2 bed/1 bath apartment in the Bridgeport/McKinley Park neighborhood of Chicago. My old roommate moved out so I am searching for another one and figured looking for a graduate or professional student would be a great idea! Asking 750 on the split for the rent (I pay more). The apartment is 1200-1400 sq. ft. (excluding the attic) and we'd share most of this space. There is a washer/dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, luxury fridge with ice/water dispenser, large windows that get lots of space, LOTS of open street parking, two entrances in the front and side of the apartment, attic storage and a large back "sun-room like" area leading to the side door, where I store my bicycle. Ceiling fans in the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms that can be remote controlled. Radiator heating available throughout the apartment controlled by a thermostat. Landlord supplies A/C units during the summer months. The bathroom is vented with a small window in the shower. The front entrance is fenced and we share the front house door with downstairs neighbors that are extremely respectful. The side house door is solely our entrance and leads to the sunroom area. We have camera setups and the apartment is extremely secure and in a quiet corner of Chicago as well. It is newly renovated, freshly painted with lots of storage and nice open floor plan with bamboo flooring with new carpet in both bedrooms. The ceilings are high and the finishes are beautiful. The rent is $750/month for you and $950/month for me, no move In fee/security deposit and 1st month rent is required upon move in. Credit, eviction and background checks are required. As co-tenants, we will split gas, electric and internet. The apartment is pet-friendly (dogs/cats), will have to discuss with the landlord. The second bedroom you'd be using is smaller (110 sqft room). Should fit a full bed but queen would fit snug/tight. The closet in the bedroom is large and can hold all of your clothes and room items. The living room is MASSIVE so you're welcome to keep things you may not need in the living room there or elsewhere (we have an attic upstairs and the back sun room). We are only a short bus or bike away from Pilsen and other spots in Bridgeport. Close to South Loop/Hyde Park/Loop/Chinatown/Rush/UIC Medical District and University of Illinois at Chicago, and 12 mins walking to Orange Line and 6 mins walking from a bus line that runs into downtown. It is 15 mins driving from the Midway airport, O'Hare connect from bus or Orange Line transit. Also only a block away from the south end of the Chicago River and multiple parks in the area. Bridgeport and McKinley Park are really quiet neighborhoods so they are perfect for research professionals to unwind without distraction, while also being close to more lively areas that are always bustling. It is a 3 minute drive to i-55 S/N exit. I am a postdoc that goes into work minimum 4 days a week. Preferably would want to live with another postdoc/grad student/professional student but open to any and all inquiries if there’s a good connection on the living and social compatibility. Feel free to reach out with any questions. Pictures available upon request. Ideal move in would be on or before June 1st, 2023, perfect timing for summer in Chicago. The lease will be reset at the end of February so it’s a 9 month lease. Prorating should be available if you need to move in slightly before/after the move-in date. Should no one respond to this ad before 06/01, I will continue to leave the offer open until I do find a housemate.
