The Graduate Student Farmhouse is designed to create a community for six vetted graduate students and post-docs peers. Enjoy living in a spacious, newly remodeled, turn-of-the-century farmhouse situated on 100+ acres just a few miles from campus. Enjoy the outdoors by relaxing on your wrap-around porch, getting outside to watch horses grazing, and knowing that the other graduate students respect your needs for quiet study time and to relax during your down time. The farmhouse is a quiet alternative to crowded undergrad campus life designed specifically to create a community for graduate students and post-docs. It is not on a bus line, so you must have a car to consider. We have been housing U of I graduate students for over 25 years. The house has outdoor dining on the wrap-around front porch, newly updated kitchen, quartz counter tops, new stainless appliances and new furnishings throughout the first floor (your bedroom is unfurnished). Located just south of campus and east of the U of I golf course, it overlooks the U of I South Farms on the south edge of Urbana (not on bus line). Tie your hammock between the trees, have a barbecue with housemates on the farm, engage in conversations around the fire pit in summer or the wood burning stone fireplace. Even though you can see the Assembly Hall on Campus from your porch, all you'll hear are the peaceful sounds of nature. No Smoking/No pets.
